KNOWING IS BEING

Knowing is Being- Anant Sri

All the Masters have always been repeating that you are what you wish to be. A question arises in the minds of seekers that if they are already what they have to be, then what is the need for any sadhna, for any search?

True, that all Masters tell you that you are already what you want to be but do you know that? Do you live that?

It is a truth that you are what you are trying to be and that nothing will be added or subtracted from you in time. You are complete this very moment. Not that there is going to be any development in the future as you are beyond any change. Nothing is going to change with time. You are eternal, absolute, and existential. Nothing is required to complete you. You are already complete, you are already perfect. Yet you don’t know. Knowing cannot be given, it is your being. It is a deep understanding.

A seeker’s basic agony is that when you are what you are trying to be, then why don’t you know it and this unrest gives rise to a thirst. You become thirsty to be what you are and that results in your quest. The whole sadhna is to intensify this thirst and once this thirst becomes intense your journey to being begins. A Sadguru knows that all this seeking is also going on in sleep but for a seeker it is real. All that a Guru does is to intensify this thirst in you. When this thirst becomes your life you begin to wake. Once awake you can laugh at all the seeking but before that it is all a journey from thirst to realization.

When a person is sleeping you cannot make him understand, understanding will come with waking. A Sadguru knows that you are in sleep so he does not guide you in sleep, he tries to wake you up and once you are awake you need no guidance as you are able to see for yourself.

When we are in sleep it is difficult to believe that an intelligent and a fool are the same, that good and bad are one. But when you wake up you discover that there is a uniform consciousness everywhere. Nowhere it is deficient or in excess. It reflects through everything in the world. The consciousness is the same, but reflecting surfaces differ and so we see it differently in different things. But this difference is just a play of the consciousness. Actually the only thing that exists is existence itself, the self, the consciousness, the Parmatma whatever you may name it.

“Knowing the truth is being the truth, and then life is just a leela.”
