घर वापसी or Home Coming is a very beautiful term. It is unfortunate that when such precious terms fall in the hands of the unwise and exploiters, their real essence is dumped, and some distorted meanings are brought into play.
Home coming is commonly used by the wise over the ages to indicate coming back to self, your being, and your consciousness.
Conversion in religion has always been there in practice. Generally, it is not a free choice. It is a means of inducting people from other religions to create a brigade. Religions behave like army to have power, to prove their superiority over other religions. But such a thing has never been religion.
Religions are just patterns of life developed by the gurus to lead a normal life and facilitate in knowing the true nature of self. These life patterns are just facilitators, and none is superior or inferior to the other.
But the army and the fights are just to establish the sovereignty of one over the other. Then there are cults and sections and division after division with superficial differences, but the fight is just the same. And then these fall in the hands of people having vested interest and this results in a never-ending process of conversion, building up armies. What is most unfortunate is that even the so-called religious Gurus are found to create their brigade and keep their techniques secret as marketing strategies to hype their value.
Anything which is for the benefit of all should be made available to all, but they plan strategies to create their importance, otherwise people would just scatter and their empire will collapse.
The central idea of all dharma is the same, only their superficial structures differ. The central idea is to know the self and that is the essence of all religion. Religions are just like diapers that are required only till the child learns toilet training. After that they are done away with. In the same way religions are needed in the beginning, but they are merely that much of support that is actually required for a beginner, further dependence is just stagnation. Once you know how to tread, they need to go. Now the time is there to drop this support and move into maturity. We are mature enough to take the essence and do away with all such divisiveness.
Only one religion of establishing in consciousness, applicable to all, is needed, the rest can just be a choice. One should be free to experiment with religions and choose the one best suited to him. But this freedom is not there. The religion depends on the family where a child is born. Babies immediately get classified as Hindu baby or Muslim baby and likewise. There is no choice there. One is forced to follow the religion running in the family.
Ram Krishna set an example by experimenting with several religions and coming to the conclusion that all religions were talking about the same thing. He started with Hindu practices and then with Muslim and Christianity and then transcended all religions to go beyond.
In an enlightened society, keeping the essence of religion, every one can have choice of practicing anything and experimenting with anything. Looking at a person, we may recognize him as a human and not with the label of any religion, caste or creed on him. Restrictive and pseudo practices must be dropped for true religion to surface.
Temples do have a role to play but then here again the stupidity needs to go. Temples are labs where one can experiment with certain techniques to come to the truth. But to continue with the lab and techniques forever, is foolishness. Once the job is over, once they have served their purpose, you can proceed further without them.
Look at the irony that Bhagwan Buddha who happened to be against any cult or religion and kept talking about directly searching within away from all religions, and in his case also the people who came after him made a religion in his name. What should have happened is that there could be a line of Buddhas after him, but instead Buddhism came into being. And with the set up of a religion, all those impairment and foolishness that were prevalent in other religions also entered Buddhism. It is to be a series of Buddhas after a Buddha and not Buddhism.
Krishna in his Gita has advised Arjun on स्वधर्म meaning one’s own religion, that is the religion of the self, the religion of your consciousness. If everybody is established in their own dharma of consciousness, then there is no conflict for it is one and the same.
That is the only dharma. All the rest are just different packings. We can be playful with the packings or else we can do away with it altogether.
