The explanations of male oriented thought pattern is strange. We do not consider sexual relation and sexual acts with the wife of over fifteen years of age as rape, when the marriageable age for girls has been defined to be eighteen years, and when it falls against the basic human behaviour. This is also against normal rights of a free human. Such thinking in our society is in the root of all brutality.
The condition of married woman is worse than sex workers. Sex worker can say a no, to refuse physical relationship, but a wife does not have this option either. And even after saying no, if the husband goes into sexual assault, the constitution is not ready to accept it under rape. This is equally true for men when the woman is assaultive.
All such absurd thinking and arrangements are there in the society for acceptance and encouragement of rape. The same mental attitude, when it takes someone as prey for fulfilment of lust, then people get very disturbed. But until rape comes to a halt within marriage, it will never come to end in the society outside. The traditions like honeymoon etc are also in the root of indecency and pornography in society. On one end we don’t even want to discuss about sex and on the other end we present marriage as if it is a social arrangement and acceptance for indulging into sex. The majority enter into marriage just for sex or other ordinary conveniences. That is the reason why a woman’s condition becomes worse than a sex worker or a maidservant. This set up in marriage gives room for various forms of physical, mental and emotional violence.
We have made marriage as if, a must for all. This is again a big reason for getting mentally sick. Marriage should not be considered necessary, if people don’t want to marry let them not marry. To live alone is also very beautiful. Those who feel that they must live with somebody, they can enter into marriage. To have children has also been directly or indirectly made mandatory in marriage. All sorts of social and psychological pressures keep building on those who do not want or who cannot have children. I feel it is a very great spiritual responsibility to bring children into the world, so only a few should go for it. Only those should choose to have children, who have gained maturity at all the mental, emotional and spiritual levels.
Try to reform your thinking in this way at all levels in your relationships so that one day incidents like rape would become very difficult and any form violence in relationships would gradually depart.
