Om is a great mystery, that can be lived, that can be known but it is impossible to say, explain or elaborate on it. Om was discovered by those who could experience entering deep into the consciousness. Underlying all the happenings in existence is a sound, a mysterious melody.
When a person is born or when someone dies, then also a cosmic tune echoes unique to the person. One who is sensitive and extra sensory having the capability to listen to this music, knows. Likewise, for any happening in the existence, a tune is born correspondingly.
For long periods seekers and achievers observed this mysterious phenomenon and discovered that a special music is there for deep spiritual happenings. It is known as naad, it can be termed as an echo of a special kind.
Deep seekers and achievers discovered that when shape dissolves, boundaries go, individuality is dropped, all knots and entanglements of body and mind are set lose and consciousness enters its beginning-less and endless source, then also a music is experienced. This melody is unique and different from all other melodies. This is anaahat naad, this is causeless, eternal and the source of all creation.
This anahat naad or Om is experienced when the body, mind and consciousness come in harmony and become one with the cosmic harmony, when the world of duality ends and oneness prevails, when we get established in the space of witness and life remains a mere leela, just the unfolding of a drama.
This Om is echoing continuously, it is non-destructible, i.e. it cannot be destroyed. From this perishable life entering into the indestructible is the aim of spirituality. Entering into the peaceful, still, silent, wave-less, aimless, causeless, beginning-less and endless centre within us is the only sadhna, the only seeking. And this sadhna is entry into the Om. Whatever words have been used outside to describe this centre, this state, is just stated by saying this one Om. That is why the wise, the siddhas discovered this representation, so that instead of talking uselessly, it would be sufficient to just tell the seeker to discover the Om and enter into this Om. If you have said Om, then all that is meaningful has been said, now it will only be its expansion. This has been the vision of the Wise and the Masters.
